Fantasies

When we give up too much of ourselves, we use fantasy as a psychic escape. We fantasize taking moments to read, a day to ourselves, a vacation of our dreams or having enough money to buy the purse or clothing for which we have longed.

You may fantasize how life would have been different had you continued to work or been able to devote all of your energies to your career or creation. You may fantasize a home of your own, where you could escape and be responsible for only you.

Fantasy does not mean you don't love your family or that you resent caring for those you love. It indicates that you are not paying enough attention to your own longings. You may not share your fantasies with anyone because of your shame and fear that others will see you as uncommitted and selfish. Your fantasies are a sign of your yearning.

They are calling out to you for recognition, balance, and personal satisfaction. They are reminding you that your life is about loving the life you live. Fantasies can be real when you get real with yourself.

Your longings are the seed the Goddess planted in your soul that wants to bloom.

Commentary:

When John Lennon awakened very early one morning, he wrote his most impressive song of his career: Imagine. The prophet that he was invited us to imagine a spiritual world that focused on what was important about life: equality...love...unity.

Our cynical nature might think what he imaged has nothing to do with reality because it's the language of the heart. Our preoccupation with everyday concerns numbs our belief in the power of our emotional and spiritual SELF that always begs for our attention. That power precedes every...

thought we have,
every decision we make,
every yearning of our heart.

Fantasies stretch us into our full potential. Fantasies can teach us what being human means.

We can heal what is broken...
Recover from what was traumatizing.
Change what is no longer working.

Fantasies give us another chance to learn and expand our life over and over again. They teach us that life is renewable and evolving. Fantasies force us out of our rigidity into possibility. Children know this. That's why they watch cartoons and play imaginary games. We call it kId stuff, but it may very well be the kind of stuff that keeps us youthful and healthy.

We can become our dreams. When we believe in our dreams life feels less burdensome because it is filled with opportunities. The topic this month will be difficult for readers to assimilate because all of us are victims of secular thinking that makes what is spiritual kid stuff!  Escape with me into fantasy, as we broaden our understanding of what it means to be fully human.

Topics will include:

- Why is fantasy essential to our health?
- How can I nurture my fantasy life?
- What does fantasy have to do with recovery?
- How is fantasy discouraged in our culture and why is that killing us?

Fantasy is not a separation from reality, it is deepening reality.

Let's talk and share some kid stuff!
