Feelings

All of your feelings are essential parts of your intelligence. Let no one shame you from them!

Your feelings unite your body and your soul. They keep your childhood and your adulthood in harmony so that your life remains, at all times, one, whole experience.

Without your emotions, your identity will wander off and become the property of others who think they know you better than you know yourself.

In every emotion, your Self is speaking to you… listen. The answers will lead you back to a true Self, and a new Self.

Your feelings will remind you of who you are and what you have survived.

Commentary:

As I begin this message, I'm aware that most of you may read it with skepticism; because culture and family history have given feelings a bad reputation.

The expression of feelings has come to mean weakness, lack of intelligence,

    dangerous vulnerability,

      immaturity,

self pity and worst of all

          shameful!

Healing psychology, however, uses your feelings to heal your life. It recognizes that your body has emotional-memory that will not be denied, if you want to be healthy. Without your feelings being recognized, you will suffer in some way. Symptoms of illness, irritability, isolation, rage, and misery may hold the feelings you will not recognize.

Feelings are our connection to life!

    “Your emotions make you human.
Even the unpleasant ones have a purpose.
    Don’t lock them away.
If you ignore them, they just get louder and angrier.”

      – Sabaa Tahir

The danger of cultural attitudes about feelings is substituting denial (move on), drugs (get a prescription), addictions of every sort (get high) to not feel at all. This type of trending leaves us at odds with ourselves, because we have failed to learn from the emotions that accompany life experiences. Having faith in life is letting all of life happen.

May's discussion will challenge gender-specific prejudices about feelings. It could open your mind and save your life. Topics will include: Why Feel? Are feelings intelligence? Feel now, live longer. How feeling from the past can cripple the future.

Let's encourage each other to be fully alive!

Let's talk!
